WWGS Annual Teacher Conference 2026

We welcomed post-primary teachers from around Ireland to our Teacher Conference on 29th January 2026 at Nano Nagle Place, Cork City.

This year’s theme was ‘Finding Root Causes‘, one of the WWGS Guiding Principles.

It is essential for educators not only to address the symptoms of global injustices but also to delve deeper into their root causes. By understanding the underlying factors that drive inequality, conflict and environmental degradation, teachers can guide and inspire students towards more meaningful actions on global justice issues. This approach encourages critical thinking, empathy and a deeper awareness of the interconnectedness of global challenges. Two key questions are: What are the historical causes? And why do inequalities and injustices persist?

This conference aimed to equip teachers with the tools and skills to find root causes with young people through sharing good practice in particular regard to this WWGS guiding principle.

Workshops provided on the day:

  • Tracing the Roots of Misinformation
  • No Place Like Home
  • Rooting Peace: From Symptoms to Systems
